HTC, Dopod Ink US$14.5 Mln Acquisition Agreement

Taiwan-based HTC (High Tech Computer) announced on May 8 that it will pay US$14.5 million to acquire Dopod International's assets in Taiwan, Hong Kong, Singapore, Malaysia, Indonesia, Australia, Thailand, India, and the Philippines. Dopod China is not included in the acquisition agreement. The entire Dopod workforce is said to be merged into HTC and the transaction is expected to become effective on July 1, 2007. After the acquisition, HTC's product will be sold under one global brand.
